Rob studied engineering at the University of Cape Town for two years, and then for most of his life has been involved with the sea.
He was a yacht captain, a fisherman, a sailor on ships, taught sailing, and navigation at his sailing school (Mainstay Sailing Academy in Durban) for eight years and has also been a boatbuilder for many years.
Rob quit the sailing industry and started writing books. He has written five, published one, and waiting for his literary agent in New York to find a publisher for the rest (he is not the fastest agent in the west).
He has also been involved with editing: course manuals in South Africa, contractual documents, online translations, business proposals and other documents for companies, plus some freelance book-editing, including: ‘I’ll be home for Christmas’ by Tom Anderson, and also editing thesis and dissertations.
