Kirvan completed his Diploma in Theology through the Nazarene Theological College in Muldersdrift, Johannesburg, with a special focus on Philosophy, Psychology, World History and Sociology. His professional certificates include: Coach/Train the Learner, Assessor Certificate, Moderator Certificate and Legal Liability, and has currently registered with UNISA for a qualification in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
He was one of the first recruits to work for McDonalds Corporation SA, and received training in New Zealand (Auckland). There he had to train all the McDonalds Franchisee employees on operations. Kirvan joined Klipspruit West Secondary School as a teacher to teach Human and Social Science and Career Guidance for grade 12 learners. His experience also includes many social and community development programs; such as the National Institute of Crime Prevention and Rehabilitation of Offenders, the Johannesburg Child Welfare Society to implement the child headed household program for children affected by HIV/AIDS, and as well he managed projects for leadership training camps.
He has varied training experience, such as teambuilding and outdoor adventure therapy, using rock climbing and abseiling, bridge jumping, obstacle courses etc. He also worked as a trainer and coach with companies in the financial sector, such as SAICA which recruited and trained accounting graduates in communication and office etiquette programmes. His current role as a training officer in the steel and mining sector entails the skills training of all permanent employees and contractors in the OSH Act, including, amongst many: risk assessments, gas and confined space training, and working at heights.
